First, thanks for venturing beyond the Google search, publicity material or Twitter/Facebook page to find me - this is really only intended as a temporary measure to keep this ethereal space warm while I work on constructing some beautiful, coruscating site of wonder to take its place. I've been working as a freelance illustrator for a little more than two years now, and my first sizable project - completed in collaboration with the author Charles Jones - in the shape of a non-fictional, historical children's book, An Illustrated History of 1066 (WritersPrintShop, 2009) is now jostling with the other 'fish' in the Amazon book-stream (see opposite). Although not what might be regarded as 'classically trained' (i.e. more 'self-taught'), I have worked on a diverse range of subject matter, and in a variety of media, a few examples of which you'll find in my rather modest gallery. Each new project has represented something of a departure - both in practical and artistic terms - from the execution of the preceding one, and I find confronting the challenge of new demands and objectives a definite thrill. Past projects have included commissions from educational establishments - some of which for wider publication in the national press; a series of materials to accompany a specialist educational coaching programme; corporate identity images; a range of Christmas cards; and various private requests, ranging from personalized greetings cards to images for a hobbyists' group convention's event literature, and the occasional pet portrait... Feel free to rifle through the images uploaded to date and, if there's anything you'd like further information about, please don't hesitate to use the contact details listed - I'm generally tucked away in my upstairs garret room of a weekday (and not irregular weekends) and would be nothing short of delighted to be interrupted by communicative incursions from the outside world. | I am also on the ubiquitous Facebook: Amanda Pollard And, similarly, Twitter: amandapollard If you're interested in exactly what it is I spend all (well, 'some of' would perhaps be more accurate...) my time doing while other people are diligently working at actual, bona fide jobs in the 'out there', please do visit my new blog: Again, a rather basic affair at the moment, but I shall endeavour to become rather more au fait with its features and functioning over the coming weeks, so please do revisit periodically (I'm aiming for at least one new post a week, but we shall see how it goes...). CHRISTMAS CARDS! In search of something more original than the hackneyed ol' beaming snowman/Santa wedged down a chimney/nativity scene to convey your xmas greetings this year? Please take a look at my selection of alternative cards, featuring original illustratedbyamanda illustrations, on Etsy where I'm offering FREE SHIPPING to UK addresses and you can be assured of excellent green credentials (recycled and FSC-accredited stock). |
